One of my main goals in treating patients is to demystify some of the “rumors” they may have heard about spine surgery from the notorious web chat rooms through educating my patients in my office. Most spine ailments are best treated without an operation.
In my opinion, surgery is the best option for patients who have exhausted all of the modern non-surgical modalities available. These include medications, physical therapy, stretching, acupuncture, injections, and more.
When these fail to control my patients’ symptoms and they cannot perform their regular activities of daily living without pain, I tailor a specific treatment plan that best addresses the spinal pathology.
